Principal’s Report Mrs.
Carufe
Cardinal Eagan wants six people from each school to go to
Albany and support the tax credit proposal for families with children in
private schools.
Catholic
schools Week was wonderful. The
children enjoyed the movie and were extremely well behaved.
The
parish mission begins on February 26th. Father Danny will be talking to the younger grades on February 27th
and to the older classes on February 28th.
Articles regarding the
Scholastic Olympics, school registration, and the Adult Penny Social have been
in the paper.
This year had the biggest turnout. On Tuesday morning, there were many
parents. Over 200 parents participated
in Pizza with Parents. Next year, if
the school schedule allows, more time should be allocated for the parents to
spend in the classroom.
Thank you to Annie Machado, Katie Glembotzky, Jennifer
Beisswenger, Theresa Berretta, Regina Berish, Sandy Bulson, Brenda Dennehy,
Theresa McGuire, Caryn Morales, Elaine Rose, Linda Wilamowski, and Brenda
Yackeren for all of their help.
The ice cream social was a huge success. Next year we will need more help. Stewarts donated three sundae kits.
380 tickets were sold for a
net profit of $1625. We did not have a
corporate sponsor.
The spring sale will run from February 10th to
the 24th. The orders will be
delivered before Easter.
The Bowl-a-thon was held on February 4th. 120 children participated. The
profit was $1269. The first
grade class had the most participation and had their pizza party on February 10th. Peter Carrellini won the $25 gift
certificate to Toys R Us for receiving $160 in sponsorships.
The Adult Penny Social is on schedule. There were no signs and it would cost $17
per sign to purchase ones similar to the ones for the craft fair. Annie Machado volunteered to make signs with
her husband’s plotter. Sandy will send
information to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
Lynn has signed up two vendors for this year’s
party. Tickets will go on sale within
the next three weeks.
Humanitees went out of business. The company who took over sent information
about their products. It was decided
not to do this fundraiser.
Wreath Sale Brenda
Yackeren
Brenda received information from Sherwood Forest Farms
about wreaths, garland, and swags. The
decorations are supplied with the wreaths.
We purchase the wreaths for $16.60 and can sell them for whatever amount
we want. The John Jay cheerleaders
sold theirs for $28.
The discount card has special offers from about a dozen
local businesses. The card is purchased
for either $5 or $10. The school will
make 80% from the sale of the cards.
Maria has volunteered to chair this fundraiser.
Gift cards from national chains are purchased at face
value and the school receives a portion of the sales.
Subscriptions Several magazine subscriptions would be
sold.
A fundraising brochure would be sent home. The school would make 40% from the total
sales.
These have been very successful for other
organizations. A fashion show could be
incorporated and local businesses can donate items for raffles.
Similar to our bowl-a-thon, but the children would ice
skate.
An adult dinner/dance to be held in the spring.
This is similar to our Adult Penny Social.
A fundraising brochure would be sent home. The school would make a certain percentage
from the total sales.
The school could sponsor the performance. Tickets could be sold to the community. Corporate sponsors could be found to make a
program.
Renee and John McCormick won the cruise raffle.
Meeting was
closed with The Our Father.
Brenda Yackeren
adjourned the meeting at 7:50 p.m.
